Bridge Kids
“Let the little children come to me…”

What is Bridge Kids?
Bridge Church is a vibrant congregation filled with many young families. In fact, one third of our community are children! We believe time during church services for kids should be a fun and engaging time. Bridge Kids exists to help children grow in their Christian faith and relationship with Jesus Christ through Sunday programming, home group engagement, and equipping families for faith at home.
A Sunday with Bridge Kids
Check in
Please see one of our greeters to check your kids in at the beginning of the service. We need some basic information so they can get a name tag. The name tag carries their information and a security code, and you will receive a paper with the same code. Present that paper (original or a photo on your phone) when you pick your child up at the end of the service. Please check in every time you come to a Sunday service.
Safety and protection
All volunteers are trained and screened according to our Safe Church policies. Volunteers and staff follow best practices to keep children and youth safe. Every volunteer has submitted clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks to the ministry lead and has been trained in abuse prevention policies and protocol. Questions about Safe Church policies or procedures? Email Shayla at shayla@bridgechurch.ca.
Curriculum
The Gospel Project provides theological yet practical, age-appropriate Bible studies that immerse the whole church in the story of the Gospel, helping to develop a Gospel culture that leads to Gospel mission.
Sunday programming
Children need to be checked in using our church system — volunteers are available to help set your family up. Then drop your children off in their room just before the service begins.
Bridge Nursery
Children from 6 months through 2 years can be dropped off with our nursery volunteers. We encourage parents to ensure their child has used the bathroom or arrives with a clean diaper. Volunteers will not be changing diapers and you will be contacted for any diapering needs.
Bridge Preschool
Kids 3-5 can be dropped off on the Nursery side of the Bridge Kids space. They join the other kids for worship and have their own lesson taught at their level, with a craft tied to the Bible story, toys and games.
Bridge Elementary
Kids from Kindergarten through Grade 4 gather for large group teaching filled with free play, energetic kids worship music, Bible stories, games and crafts.
Harvest 5/6
Grade 5-6 kids join the adults for worship and are then dismissed for their own class to study the Bible together. Once a month (typically the last Sunday) they can either serve in a ministry or attend the main service. Kids who want to take part in Kids Serve weekends need to sign up ahead of time — find Shayla or the weekend classroom teacher for a sign-up form.
At the beginning of each school year (typically early September), children are placed in the Bridge Kids class that best suits their age and grade level for the upcoming school year. For example, children entering Kindergarten in September move up from the preschool class that same September.
Contact Shayla, our Director of Children’s Ministry, at shayla@bridgechurch.ca for more information or if you would like to volunteer with Bridge Kids. You can also connect with Shayla or one of the other volunteers on a Sunday if you have any questions.
